GetAFreelancer Reaches New Heights
Posted by admin in Freelance Job Sites on 2009 Oct 12
There’s one thing that that the internet has proven to be absolutely true, and that’s the fact that geographical distance and physical borders are no longer a hindrance in doing business.
Companies are increasingly getting used to being able to conduct business with other companies that may be in another part of the planet with nothing but the internet, or having entire technical projects managed and worked on by teams of people tens of thousands of miles away.
Which is why services like Elance and oDesk have gotten so popular. You can outsource projects to registered designers, programmers, legal experts, writers and whatnot. Another emerging player in this freelance market is GetAFreelancer.com, an Australian online service that’s been in the business since it was estaablished back in 2004.
Just a few days ago, the company made an announcement that it is changing their online identity to Freelancer.com, which is undoubtedly better sounding and definitely has more recall. They say that they bought the freelancer.com domain name for a six sum figure from the owner of a magazine known as “Computer Freelancer” over fifteen years ago.
Matt Barrie, CEO of GetAFreelancer.com, says that the site most recently hit a milestone and now has more than a million registered freelance businesses and professionals from as much as 234 countries and locations worldwide. Posted jobs have reached more than 475,000, and a gross value of 43 million US dollars have been transacted to date.
Quite impressive, considering that GetAFreelancer is just a bootstrapped venture.
